Ivalo Experiences is a small, family-run company founded by a local couple, Johanna and Niilo. With deep roots in the traditions of Lapland, we aim to offer responsible and truly unique activities that reflect our authentic culture and way of life. We are reindeer herders, and the reindeer you will meet during our activities are our own. We would love to share a part of our everyday life with you!
Our activities are based on the everyday work of reindeer herding
We don’t organize anything extra just for tourism – instead, we invite you to experience our everyday life. In the morning, we head out into the wilderness to feed a large reindeer herd. After the feeding, we make a fire in the forest, grill sausages, and enjoy hot drinks by the open fire. Every day, we also feed and care for our home reindeer, kept safe in an enclosure through the winter. In addition to reindeer herding activities, we also offer fishing and hiking trips and Northern Lights hunting!

Behind the company are us, Johanna and Niilo, a local couple. We are both from Ivalo, and Niilo has deep roots in reindeer herding, and he has worked as a reindeer herder all his life. We founded our company because we want to offer responsible activities where customers can truly experience nature, going deeper into the forest and discovering something unique. The 2024/2025 winter season was our first, and based on the wonderful feedback from our guests, we truly believe we are on the right path!
